- When does the 90 days validity start?
- The countdown starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in China, not when you buy it. You can install the profile days ahead at home and it will stay dormant until you land.
- Can I use an eSIM in mainland China?
- Yes. A travel eSIM roams onto China Mobile, China Unicom or China Telecom and works anywhere those networks reach. The one requirement is a phone that supports eSIM — note that iPhones sold in mainland China do not, so check your model first.
- Do I need real-name registration to use an eSIM in China?
- No. Buying a local Chinese SIM card means registering your passport in person at a carrier shop. A travel eSIM is issued by an overseas carrier and reaches China as roaming traffic, so there is nothing to register — you buy it online and install it before you leave.
- Do mainland-market phones support eSIM?
